2008 FALL ADULT SWEEP& SCULLING PROGRAMS

HRRA is celebrating 10 years of offering novice, recreational, intermediate, advanced and sculling opportunities to adults. Our experienced coaches have taught hundreds of adult rowers and created medal winning teams out of our enthusiastic and dedicated rowers. Continuous improvement is our goal at all levels ~ let us show you what we have to offer!

MASTERS A
Our Masters programs address a variety of athlete needs, focusing on skill-building and developing technical efficiency, speed and endurance. Our goal for athletes in this program is to develop athletes and line ups that are competitive on the regional and national level. Though we mostly focus on Masters events (27 and older), we do accept athletes who are between 19 and 26 and will race these athletes in open events where available. Athletes enrolling on this team will commit to 3 away races per season and may be given an opportunity to compete at up to 6 races each season. Prerequisite for enrollment on this team is two full seasons at the Masters B level or by permission of the coach.

Registrations are accepted until the program is full for all programs, except for advanced which stops accepting registrants two weeks after the first day of practice.

Registrations that are received after a program is full will be placed on a waiting list. If a spot opens up registrants will be given a spot based on receipt date of their registration.

If a program is not filled to its minimum capacity it will be cancelled and registrants will receive full refunds.

Encouraged to compete at up to three regattas a season , athletes are taught racing skills that enhance their performance, both recreationally as well as competitively. Boat line-ups are determined at each practice and for races based on who is available, making this a good program for athletes who can't commit to a "set" boat or who may need to miss occasional practices or races due to work, school or family obligations. MASTERS A TEAMS
We offer opportunities for select adult athletes (19 and older) to compete on a higher level than the Recreational and Masters B teams by putting together "set" boats that practice and race together consistently. This program level requires a high commitment to teammates and coaches as well as to the practice and race schedule.

Our goal for athletes in this program is to improve racing skills and performance so our boats become competitive on a national level and over the past three years our teams have consistently placed in the top 3 at the regional, national and International regattas we attend. Though we mostly focus on Masters events (27 and older), we do accept athletes who are between 19 and 26 and will race these athletes in open events where available. Athletes accepted on this team will commit to 3 away races per season and may be given an opportunity to compete at up to 6 races each season. Prerequisite for consideration is two full seasons at the Masters B level or by permission of the coach.

The coach of this program will decide which athletes are chosen for these boats based on a combination of factors that may include: age, erg scores, overall fitness and flexibility, rowing technique, physical, social and psychological compatibility with other members of the team and the athlete's ability to commit to the practice and race schedule. All athletes accepted on the advanced teams will be given the opportunity to race at the Independence Day Regatta, the Race Between the Bridges, Albany Invitational, Quaker City Sprints, Poughkeepsie Regatta, Head of the Hudson, Head of the Housatonic and Head of the Fish. Athlete participation at Masters Nationals, FISA Masters Worlds, Canadian Henley and Head of the Charles and any added races are not guaranteed and line ups for all races are at the discretion of the coach.

2K ERG Guidelines:
Lightweight Women should be under 9:00, all others should be below 8:30
Lightweight Men should be under 8:00, all others should be below 7:30

Age and weight may affect these numbers - divergence from these guidelines may be made at the coaches discretion.
